Island School Medicine Wheel Permaculture Educational Center

A 5,000 sq ft medicine wheel Permaculture garden, includes native fruit trees and shrubs as well as perennial vegetables around the outsides and in the center to feature a medicine wheel design with indigenous sacred medicines and aligned with the four directions.

The project goal was to create an educational space for the day school and groups of students camping at the outdoor education center in the area of indigenous studies as well as providing land for the indigenous communities of Toronto to grow their sacred medicines. A suburban front and backyard lawn transformed into a food forest oasis using Permaculture ethics, techniques and principles.

Homeowners use this garden as their prosperous sanctuary while building soil and creating habitat for native creatures, by design.

Richmond Hill Permaculture project

Inspired by Persian carpets, this design fit homeowners' cultural background and artistic interests while being a lovely habitat for butterflies, birds, bees of all kinds and much more and a beautiful view from the top of the deck to enjoy by homeowners and their guests at the backyard.
